The Institute of Popular Education of Southern California (IDEPSCA) demands an
immediate investigation of Los Angeles Police Department’s violent and harsh
acts against immigrant families at MacArthur Park, on May 1st. IDEPSCA calls on
our city representatives and the LAPD Police Commission not to extend LAPD
Chief William J. Bratton’s contract until all those police officers guilty of violating
people’s civil rights during a peaceful demonstration are suspended without pay,
and prosecuted.

Local Labor Center to Hold Event that Brings Together Religious Leaders and
Day Laborers to Denounce the Physical and Racial Attacks by S.O.S and
Minutemen as Well as to Strongly Oppose Proposal On The Hill.

Un incremento del 370% en la cantidad de trabajadores
latinos que mueren por accidentes o descuidos en sus
empleos ha puesto en alerta a las autoridades
estadounidenses.
La Oficina de Salud Laboral del Centro de Control de
Enfermedades (CDC) reportó ayer que el alarmante
incremento, que va del período de 1992 a 2006, afecta
principalmente a los latinos inmigrantes, quienes conforman el
75% de los hispanos que mueren mientras trabajan. El otro
25% son latinos nacidos en Estados Unidos.
