Our History group of workers, IDEPSCA and Jackie Goldberg (our former city council) started to work on the project and created what is now known as the Hollywood more humane way to seek employment. Community Job Center. We take pride in the leadership and initiative from a group of workers who wanted to be organized and who shared a vision to find a more humane way to seek employment. The Hollywood Community job center first opened its door to the Hollywood Community in1997 and continues to have a strong presence for the employers and the workers.

Can I hire a domestic worker?
What if I want a specific worker?
Do the workers go to my work site? Organizers suggest that the initial meeting and negotiation take place at the Hollywood Community Job Center which has a bilingual coordinators who can assist. How do I pay a worker? The negotiations are between the employer and the employee. Some workers charge more depending on their skills and experience. It is best to negotiate the rate before initiating a job, we have bi-lingual coordinators that will be happy to assist you. Does IDEPSCA charge for its services? IDEPSCA's Hollywood Community Job Center provides a free service by providing an organized location where workers and employers can meet. A LITTLE NOTE OF COURTESY Needless to say Day Laborers and Domestic Workers are hard working individuals who deserve respect. Workers should be paid promptly and be provided with the necessary tools and specific instructions to do the job right. Our workers have a variety of skills, the following are some but not all the types of jobs/skills found in the Hollywood Community Job Center |
SERVICES TO DAY LABORERS
OUR RE-CURRENT EVENTS
Anniversary Party Our anniversary party is a day where day laborers get together with the rest of the community. We are very fortunate to have the involvement of all those members that care about the center's success. Thannk you for making this year's party a relaity! Christmas Celebration: Every year we become the family for some of the workers who do not have their family around for the Christmas Celebration. On December 22, 2006 we had a small gathering with the workers and staff to celebrate the holyday. We had tamales and Central American Fruit Punch (ponche). We had about 95 guests. The tamales were cooked by one of our most valuable members; she is a single mother, whom has been a member of the center for the past 3 years. (THANK YOU- THE TAMALES WERE DELICIOUS!) Health Fair: Because we care about the health of the workers, IDEPSCA's Health Project brought the first health Fair in the Hollywood Community Job Center. On Saturday, August 30th, 2008 the Hollywood Center will have its Second Annual Health Fair.
