LA ESCUELITA DE LA COMUNIDAD

La Esculita de la Comunidad was founded in 1984 and is a program in Pasadena that includes  ESL, and
Spanish Literacy classes for adults. La Escuelita has been the base and has maintain many of the new
programs of the Institute. By using Popular Education as a tool and analyzing the problems of our people we
have developed a curriculum which uses the major problems and necessities of our community to educate
each other and organize the people in a search for alternative solutions.

The Program of La Escuelita maintains itself with the help of volunteers from UCLA, USC, Cal Poly-Pomona,
Mt. SAC, E.L.A College y Pasadena Community College. Anyone is welcome to volunteer as a facilitator or by
making donations.
