No one

anyone, and
nobody is self

us learn from

the world we

Paulo Freire

The Worker's Health Project was born through the years of
work with Day Laborers and Domestic or Household
Workers.  We learned about the health and unhealthy
habits and practices of our constituents and the extremely
harsh and exploitative conditions in which they work.  Day
laborers and Domestic workers lack health insurance,
decent housing, and transportation and in an effort to
satisfy their needs this project was born.

As we tried to respond to their needs we began conducting
a series of health diagnosis in the worker centers and day
laborer corners. The questions we asked the workers were
simple:
1)  what were their main concerns related to health and,
2)  which one was the most important.

With this information we began shaping our  educational
component and started many of our valuable partnerships
with other community organizations, clinics, And
SOCAL- OSHA among others.
